August: Intro to Patternmaking
This is an introductory class to the foundations of flat patternmaking. Patternmaking is the process of translating two-dimensional sketches or ideas into precise templates to be cut and sewn to fit a three-dimensional form.
In this class you will learn the fundamentals of measuring and drafting basic shapes to create blocks which will form a standard bodice and skirt. Tools will be provided in the space, as well as muslin and pattern paper. However, if you’d like to purchase your own rulers and tools, a link to purchase will be provided prior to the first day of class.
Students also receive access to the studio space for the month of August, between the hours of 10am-6pm Monday through Friday, and 10-2pm on Saturday, excluding class times.
